Student Overview

Image Description

Students are the heart and soul of the FLI program.  FLI is a genuinely student-based program as students drive the conversation from the beginning stages of exploring ideas to the fulfilment of their social action project.   FLI works with students from Bay Area high schools who come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of unique perspectives in their efforts to address the needs of their communities.  FLI students are dedicated, curious, engaged, and creative.

FLI partners with high schools that offer the FLI program as an elective or a large component of an accredited class during the school day.  In the past 7 years, FLI has worked with more than 500 students from 23 different high schools throughout the Bay Area.  FLI students have:

  • Raised tens of thousands of dollars for Bay Area organizations, charities, schools and other causes
  • Professionally published written work and created studio albums
  • Held art exhibitions, fashion shows & concerts
  • Created programs for children, the homeless and countless other people that are ongoing and continuing to change the landscape of the Bay Area
  • Started businesses, designed products and raised awareness for countless causes
